Mokokchung Police seize two AK rifles, three pistols and ammunition during vehicle check, arresting two persons in separate operations

MOKOKCHUNG — Mokokchung Police have arrested two persons and seized two AK rifles, three pistols and ammunition during a vehicle check at Tzsusapang sector under Mokokchung village.
According to an update issued on August 11 by Y Tumchobemo Yanthan, Additional Superintendent of Police and PRO, Mokokchung, police personnel conducting routine checking intercepted a suspected Honda Amaze at around 1.40 am on July 30.
The vehicle, bearing registration number AS-07CB-6839, was travelling from Shamator via Chari junction towards Dimapur, police said.
During inspection, police recovered two AK rifles with three country-made magazines, three .32 pistols with three country-made magazines and one live .32 round.

One occupant, identified as Khumkiumong Yimkhiung, 42, a permanent resident of Khumishe under Aghunato police station in Zunheboto district and presently residing at Naga United village, Chümoukedima, was arrested at the spot.
Further investigation led to the arrest of an alleged co-accused, Kone Mary, wife of Danii Lah and a resident of Saranmai village in Senapati district, Manipur, from Kohima on August 3.
A criminal case has been registered at Police Station-I, Mokokchung, and the matter remains under investigation.
