Mokokchung Police, with Tuensang Police, arrested a suspected vehicle lifter and recovered two stolen Maruti 800 cars linked to theft cases in Mokokchung and Tuensang.

MOKOKCHUNG — Mokokchung Police, in coordination with Tuensang Police, have arrested a suspected vehicle lifter and recovered two stolen cars from Tuensang.
According to I Bunglang Chang, Additional Superintendent of Police and PRO, Mokokchung, the accused has been identified as Shillam, 47, son of late Thaming, a resident of Thonoknyu village under Thonoknyu Police Station in Noklak district.
He was residing at Old Medical ‘B’ Ward, Tuensang, at the time of his arrest.
Police recovered a white Maruti 800 bearing registration number NL02C 0032, which was reported stolen from a garage at Yimyu Ward, Mokokchung, on September 28.

Chang said the breakthrough came during an investigation led by officers of Mokokchung Police Station-II, who pieced together the case using CCTV footage and a delivery package found inside an abandoned grey Maruti 800 without registration plates.
These leads helped police identify and track down the suspect.
Further investigation revealed that the grey Maruti 800 had also allegedly been stolen from Tuensang by the same accused.
Police apprehended the suspect in Tuensang after a brief chase when he attempted to flee. He was brought to Mokokchung on October 3 and produced before a court, which remanded him to police custody.
Further investigation is underway.
