MOKOKCHUNG — The Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) will be conducting the yearly dog registration-cum-vaccination drive on September 26 and 27 in Mokokchung town.
A circular issued by Atsungba Walling, ADC and Chief Executive Officer of MMC, on Thursday informed that the drive will be carried out in collaboration with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services and All Ward Union Mokokchung (AWUM).
The drive, scheduled to begin at 8 am on each day, will be conducted in two phases across Mokokchung’s wards. On September 26, the teams will cover Salangtem, Alempang, Alongmen, Sangtemla, Tongdentsuyong, Arkong, Penli, Dilong and Sungkomen, while on September 27 it will be conducted in Yimyu Lijabalijen, Mongsenbai, Kumlong, Kichutip, Aongza, Marepkong, Majakong and Artang.

The ward authorities have been urged to arrange necessary facilities, with each ward assigning two representatives to assist the veterinary team. Respective ward chairman will sign registration cards for renewals, stated the circular.
However, a pressing concern emerged from recent meetings about many pet owners not using the tag properly. To address this, MMC will issue new tags free of charge this year, while pet owners who have misplaced theirs can purchase replacements from the office on cash payment.
Those needing new registration cards or replacements for lost ones are directed to collect the same from its office on or before September 25.
