The campaign featured a range of activities tailored to address specific needs. Awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene, coupled with the distribution of sanitary napkins and personal hygiene kits, reached vulnerable groups effectively.
A notable effort included a special programme for female inmates at Mokokchung District Jail, where relief aid was also provided to women and girls and women and girls displaced by the ongoing landslide disaster.
Skill development took centre stage with the launch of a three-month tailoring training course on September 8, designed to empower women and girls with economic independence.
Capacity-building sessions on key legislations, including the Domestic Violence (DV) Act and Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, were conducted for women police personnel in partnership with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA).
Workplace safety emerged as a critical focus on September 10, with awareness sessions on the SHe-Box portal and the POSH Act, alongside one-day self-defence training for presiding officers of internal complaints committees.
The training, led by an all-female team from the Mokokchung Taekwondo Association, empowered participants with practical skills to ensure safer environments.
On September 11, an awareness session at Fazl Ali College addressed common health issues, with a strong emphasis on anaemia prevention and early detection. Dr. Limanaro, DPO RMNCAH+N, served as the resource person, providing expert insights to promote healthier lifestyles among attendees.
The campaign culminated on Friday with an exposure visit for the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Adolescent Girls Club from Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School to the Science Department at Nagaland University, Lumami.
The hands-on experience inspired participants to explore science, higher education, and career opportunities, fostering a vision for their future.
The 10-day campaign engaged over 500 participants across various programmes addressing health, safety, skill development, and education.
The District officials lauded the collaboration between Sankalp, the administration, and community stakeholders, noting the campaign’s potential to serve as a model for future initiatives.
