MOKOKCHUNG — The Mokokchung Athletics Association (MAA) announced that the Mokokchung District Junior Athletics Meet 2025 will take place on August 30 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung, under the aegis of the Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA).
The event aims to identify top young athletes to represent the district at the 2nd Nagaland Junior Athletics Championship, tentatively set for September, fostering grassroots talent in the region.
The meet will feature competitions for boys and girls in three age categories: under-14, under-16, and under-18. For U-14 athletes, the competition will follow a triathlon format, with participants choosing one set from three combinations, including 60m sprint, long jump, high jump (scissor technique), back throw (1kg shot put), and 600m run.

U-16 and U-18 categories will include individual track and field events, such as sprints (60m to 1000m), long jump, high jump (scissor), and shot put, with weight specifications tailored to age and gender. Athletes in the U-16 and U-18 categories may compete in up to two events, while U-14 participants are limited to one triathlon set.
Eligibility is strictly based on Aadhaar verification: U-14 (born between September 25, 2011, and September 24, 2013), U-16 (September 25, 2009, to September 24, 2011), and U-18 (September 25, 2007, to September 24, 2009).
Registration is open until August 29 with a nominal fee of INR 100 per athlete. Selected athletes for the state championship will receive travel allowances, though food and accommodation are not provided.
