DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung Ajit Kumar Verma has officially established a Board of Administrators to manage the Principal Market Yard in Mokokchung. This group will handle the market's daily business until a permanent committee takes over.
The decision follows guidelines issued under the Nagaland Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing Act of 2020, according to a DIPR report.
The newly formed board is composed of the additional deputy commissioner of Mokokchung as the convenor/chief administrator and District Agriculture Officer Dr. Lanunochetla as the co-convenor.
The other members of the board are I Panger Longkumer (Chairman, Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee, Mokokchung); Temjenmenla (District Horticulture Officer); Dr. Tiachuba Jamir (Chief Veterinary Officer); T Tatong Longchar (District Fishery Officer); the assistant registrar of Cooperative Societies, Mokokchung; Asang Aier; Kilangtoshi; Suputoshi; Akangmeren; L Yanger; Nukshi I Ozukum; Bendangnukshi Walling; Nathan Ozukum; Mapuakam Kichu; Imrongkumba; Tiarenla; and Ojintsungba.

The Board of Administrators is tasked with exercising the powers and performing the duties vested in the First Market Committee under the Act. It will ensure proper management and administration of the Principal Market Yard while regulating marketing activities within the delineated market area in accordance with the provisions of the Act.
Additionally, the board will maintain records, accounts, and assets of the Market Committee and recommend measures to strengthen agricultural marketing infrastructure. The board will function under the overall supervision and control of ADC (HQ) Mokokchung and submit monthly or quarterly progress reports to the deputy commissioner for review.
