  • He expressed appreciation to civil society organisations—Ao Senden, Watsu Mungdang, and Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM)—for their support. He also acknowledged the work of administrative officers and department heads, crediting them for the successful implementation of planned schemes and programmes.

  • Phoji noted the contributions of the ADC, the SDO (Civil), and the superintendent of police, particularly during the conduct of the parliamentary and urban local bodies elections and during periods of border tensions.

  • Incoming DC Verma thanked Phoji for his service and said he looks forward to working in collaboration with civil society and administrative officials. Recalling his earlier posting in Mokokchung as Assistant DC during his probation, Verma called it an honour to serve as DC in a district renowned for its ‘cultural and intellectual vibrancy’.

  • “Civil society organisations here play a pivotal role in understanding people’s aspirations, and I seek your cooperation during my tenure,” he said.

  • Acknowledging that a DC cannot act alone, Verma expressed confidence in his administrative officers and heads of departments, urging them to work as a cohesive team to address challenges.

  • The programme featured short speeches from the president of the Mokokchung District GB Association, the chairman of the Khensa Village Council representing all villages under the Mokokchung District, Ao Senden, MMC chairman Philip on behalf of DPDB members and heads of departments, ADC Mangkolemba, and SP Mokokchung.

  • Earlier, a farewell programme for the outgoing DC of Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, was held at the Town Council Hall, Mon, on May 6.

  • According to a DIPR report, Verma, in his farewell speech, expressed his gratitude to all the heads of departments (HoDs), staff of the administration, civil societies, police, and the general public of Mon district for their cooperation and support during his almost three-year tenure as the DC.

  • He mentioned that without the police, the administration cannot maintain law and order. He thanked all the superintendents of police posted in Mon District during his tenure.

  • He encouraged officers, HoDs, and civil societies to continue working for the welfare of the people, citing that Mon is a fertile ground and mentioning potential sectors such as education, health, and tourism.

  • During the function, the new Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Wennyei Konyak, was also welcomed. He congratulated the outgoing DC for the successful completion of his tenure in the Mon district and wished him further success in his new assignment. He added that he is delighted and considers it a privilege to serve his people.
