KOHIMA — Mmhonlümo Kikon, BJP national spokesperson and former MLA of 40 Bhandari Assembly Constituency, has resigned from the party’s primary and active membership with immediate effect.
In a letter addressed to the president of BJP Nagaland unit, Kikon expressed gratitude for the opportunities and responsibilities given to him during his over 10-year association with the party. He cited the need to “recalibrate [his] journey and explore new avenues of public engagement and policy work” as the reason for stepping down.
“My decision is guided by the need to continue contributing to society in different ways,” the letter stated.
Kikon had served as the party’s national spokesperson and in-charge of Mizoram state. He was elected twice to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 2013 and 2018.
A party source confirmed that the resignation letter has been received.
