Jacob Zhimomi inaugurated the new PHED division office in Niuland, highlighting infrastructure development and Census 2027 enrolment.

DIMAPUR — Minister for PHED and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi, on Friday inaugurated the new PHED division office at Niuland town, stating that strengthening government infrastructure is essential to ensuring equitable public services across the state.
According to a DIPR report, the office building was constructed at a cost of INR 1.85 crore.
Work on the project began in January 2025 and was completed within the stipulated 18-month period.
The department said the project reflects its vision of establishing quality infrastructure at district headquarters to improve service delivery to citizens.
Addressing the gathering, Zhimomi congratulated the contractor, engineers and all those involved in the successful completion of the project on schedule.
He also commended the quality of workmanship, describing the newly constructed office as one of the best government office buildings in the district.
The minister encouraged educated unemployed youth to take up farming, skilled trades and other forms of productive work, saying such initiatives would help them become financially independent while contributing to the economic growth of the district and the state.
He also called upon public leaders to extend full cooperation to government development programmes in the district.
Referring to the Census 2027, Zhimomi urged all residents living in Niuland town to enrol in their respective wards or colonies instead of their native villages.
Deputy Commissioner of Niuland, TL Kiusumong Tikhir, congratulated the department on completing the project within the stipulated timeframe.
He appealed to village authorities, GBs and civil society organisations, particularly from the neighbouring villages of Kuhoxu, Viyito and Hovishe, to cooperate with the district administration in promoting the district's development.
Short speeches were also delivered by Western Sümi Hoho vice-president Kughalu Aye and GB Hokuto Zhimomi.
Earlier, the technical report and keynote address were presented by Superintendent Engineer (P&T) Vikienyu Zutsa.
The programme was chaired by Executive Engineer, PHED Rural Division, Dimapur, Nirie-e Nisa, while Executive Engineer, PHED Circle, Dimapur, Bursenla Ao, delivered the vote of thanks.
