NSLSA and PDLSA organised a mini legal services camp at Peren town hall to promote legal awareness and access to justice.

DIMAPUR — A mini legal services camp was conducted at Peren town hall on Saturday, under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) in collaboration with the Peren District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA) and the district administration.
According to a DIPR report, the initiative aims to strengthen legal awareness among citizens and promote the vision of “Access to justice for all” through community outreach and public engagement programmes.
The camp brought together judicial officers, district administration, heads of departments, legal practitioners and educational institutions to spread awareness on legal rights, consumer protection and the importance of legal aid services.

The programme featured a special address by Hiazu Meru, Deputy Commissioner, Peren, who emphasised the importance of coordinated efforts between the administration and legal institutions in ensuring public welfare and awareness.
The DC explained that the constitutional provision was introduced to guarantee that no individual is denied justice because of financial constraints or lack of awareness.
Emphasis was also laid on extending legal support to economically and educationally backward communities and creating greater awareness on access to justice.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation titled “Consumer justice quest” conducted by the PDLSA along with the Legal Literacy Club of Peren Government College, focusing on consumer rights and legal safeguards available to the public.
The welcome address was delivered by N Longshithung Ezung, District & Session Judge, Peren-cum-Chairman, PDLSA, highlighting the significance of legal literacy and public participation in strengthening justice delivery mechanisms at the grassroots level.
The keynote address was delivered by Neiko Akami, Member Secretary, NSLSA, who officially inaugurates the mini legal services stalls and underscores the commitment of NSLSA towards making legal services accessible to every section of society, especially the marginalised and vulnerable communities.
Lhingneinem Hangshing, Chief LADC, PDLSA, chaired the programme.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Khrievonou Seletsu, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, PDLSA.
Through such initiatives, the legal services authorities aim to bridge the gap between the justice system and the people by encouraging legal awareness, free legal aid and community participation across the district.
