DIMAPUR — A panel discussion on the theme “Understanding the Inner Line Permit: historical background, contemporary relevance and policy perspectives in Nagaland” was organised by the departments of Political Science and History, MGM College, on Saturday in the college auditorium, Dimapur.
The event aimed to deepen and enhance students’ understanding of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) and its significance in the socio-political context of Nagaland, according to a press release.
The session commenced with an exhortation and welcome address by the principal, Dr. RK Behera, who highlighted the importance of developing informed perspectives on contemporary regional issues.

The panellists included Fuchumo Yanthan, head of department (History); Elithang M Kikon, head of department (Sociology); Tsutsamo, educator, Mahendra’s Institute, Dimapur; and A Kailang, assistant professor, Political Science. The discussion was moderated by N David Phom, assistant professor, Department of History.
It was mentioned that each panellist offered valuable insights covering the historical foundations, economic implications, and social and political dimensions of the ILP, addressing both its challenges and prospects for the future.
