DIMAPUR — The newly constructed Panchayat Bhawan of Tsiepama village in Chümoukedima was inaugurated by Minister of Rural Development and State Institute of Rural Development Metsubo Jamir on Wednesday.
The event was held in the presence of Zhaleo Rio, Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs; A Pongshi Phom, MLA; Rural Development department officials; village leaders; and elders.
According to an update, Jamir, stressing the importance of maintaining the rural population, highlighted that due to rural migration, most villages in Nagaland are becoming ghost villages with no significant population left.

He also pointed out that Nagas need to register and do a proper census in the upcoming Nagaland Census drive, as a drop in population in rural villages means various government schemes are unable to benefit the villagers.
Meanwhile, the minister was optimistic that with the passage of time, Nagas are utilising government funds properly for developmental purposes and looked forward to better public responsibility.

Speaking on the occasion, Rio thanked the minister for bringing about much-needed village-to-village infrastructure development in his constituency by gifting the people of Tsiepama village with a new Panchayat Bhawan and for various ongoing projects implemented under his leadership.
