Meluri police issue an advisory cautioning residents against consuming suspected spurious liquor.
DIMAPUR — The Meluri police have issued a public advisory cautioning residents against consuming liquor of unknown or doubtful origin following reports of deaths and hospitalisations allegedly linked to illicit, spurious, or illegally manufactured liquor in some districts of the state.
The advisory was issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Meluri.
In the advisory, the police urged the public to avoid liquor of unknown or doubtful origin, remain alert to the possible dangers of liquor containing toxic or adulterated substances, and immediately inform the district police, the Community Health Centre, Meluri, or other primary health centres in case of suspected alcohol-related medical emergencies.
The advisory further sought public cooperation in preventing liquor-related deaths and hospitalisations and in safeguarding the health and safety of the community.
Alongside the advisory, the Meluri district police also circulated an awareness campaign calling on residents to refrain from the consumption, sale, supply, and promotion of liquor.
