IMPHAL — Two more Naga civilians were killed by unknown armed individuals at Kailenjang village in Senapati district, Manipur, on Saturday, just a day after bullet-ridden bodies of four Tangkhul Nagas were recovered from a remote village in Kamjong district near the India-Myanmar border.
The incident took place at Kailenjang village of Senapati district on Saturday afternoon, according to reports.
The two deceased persons have been identified as Rocky from Chaowainamai village and Kumar from Laii Shirafii village, both under Senapati district.
The reason behind the incident was not immediately known. The police officials could not be reached for comment till the time of filing this report.
The killing occurred just a few hours after the United Naga Council (UNC), the apex Naga body in Manipur, announced the suspension of its ongoing economic blockade with effect from 6 pm on Saturday, following an agreement reached at in the tripartite talks held with the Government of India and the Government of Manipur in Guwahati on September 26.
