Manipur Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Vungzagin Valte died after injuries from ethnic violence, passing away in Gurugram.

IMPHAL — Manipur BJP legislator Vungzagin Valte, who had sustained grievous injuries during the early days of the ethnic violence in May 2023, passed away on Friday afternoon at Medanta – The Medicity in Gurugram, Haryana, family sources confirmed. He was 62.
Valte is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
The Thanlon MLA from Pherzawl district had been undergoing treatment at the Gurugram-based hospital after being airlifted from Imphal in an air ambulance on February 8, following a deterioration in his condition.

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh had received Valte and interacted with his family members at Imphal airport shortly before the airlifting.
Before being shifted to Gurugram, Valte—who also served as Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister in the previous N Biren Singh-led government—had been staying in Churachandpur after prolonged treatment in Delhi.
A seasoned politician, Valte was a three-time MLA from Thanlon before winning the seat again in the 2022 Manipur Assembly elections on a BJP ticket.
