
Manipur Congress leaders during the Jai Hind Yatra in Imphal
on Friday.
- IMPHAL — In
solidarity with the Indian Armed Forces' Operation Sindoor, the Manipur Pradesh
Congress Committee (MPCC) on Friday organised a Jai Hind Yatra in Imphal.
- President of MPCC Keisham Meghachandra Singh and former
chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh led the Yatra which was started from the
Congress Bhavan.
- The Jai Hind Yatra, marked by participants waving national
flags in tribute to national unity and resilience, proceeded along the Kangla
moat route to Khoyathong and back via North AOC, concluding at its starting
point.
- Speaking to reporters on the sideline of the yatra,
Meghachandra, who is also the sitting MLA from Wangkhem assembly constituency,
said that the yatra is being organised as part of nationwide yatra to support
the armed forces for their response to threats with strength.

- Expressing the party’s unwavering support for the armed
forces, former chief minister and senior Congress legislature Ibobi Singh said
that the Congress party in Manipur stands firmly with the nation, particularly
during Operation Sindoor.
- “This strike (by the
Indian forces) is not against any particular country or community but against
the terrorists. Congress will not tolerate any type of terrorists,” Singh, who
represents Thoubal assembly constituency, said.
- Former Lok Sabha MP, Dr. Thokchom Meinya Singh, former
Deputy Chief Minister and CWC member Gaikhangam, former minister M Hemanta and
other Congress leaders also took part in the Jai Hind Yatra.
- On Thursday, MPCC senior spokesperson and AICC member N Bupenda
Meitei along with senior vice president Vidyapati Senjam and vice president
Hareshwar Goshwami had formally announced plans to hold the Yatra during a
press conference at Congress Bhavan in Imphal.
