- IMPHAL — Dr.
Ahanthem Santa Singh from Manipur has become the first from the northeast state
to hold the post of executive director of two AIIMS in two states namely Andhra
Pradesh and Telangana at same time.
- Prof. Dr. Ahanthem Santa Singh, currently serving as the
executive director of AIIMS, Mangalagiri, has been entrusted with the
additional charge of executive director at AIIMS Bibinagar by the Ministry of
Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. He officially assumed charge of
the post on Thursday.
- Prof. Dr. Santa is a senior academician and healthcare
administrator with an illustrious career spanning several decades. He is a
specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology with deep expertise in maternal
health, reproductive medicine and gynecological surgery.

- Before joining AIIMS Mangalagiri, he served as the director
of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, where he played a
pivotal role in institutional development and regional healthcare advancement.
- During his tenure as director, RIMS Imphal ranked 38th
position in the national institutional ranking framework of human resource
development ranking 2019-20 and became the only medical institute in the entire
northeast and West Bengal to figure among the top 40 medical institutions and
universities of the country.
- He also held key administrative and academic roles at the
North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences
(NEIGRIHMS), Shillong, where he contributed significantly to tertiary care
services and postgraduate medical education.
- Prof. Dr. Santa is widely recognised for his leadership in
medical education, healthcare policy and institutional governance. His experience
and vision are expected to further strengthen the development of AIIMS
Bibinagar in alignment with the goals of the AIIMS network and the Ministry of
Health and Family Welfare.
