Yumnam Khemchand Singh reviews ongoing construction works of National Sports University at Koutruk in Imphal West district.

IMPHAL — Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh visited the ongoing construction site of the country’s only National Sports University (NSU) at Koutruk village in Imphal West district to assess the status of the infrastructure development works at the university.
The chief minister was accompanied by MLAs and officials during the visit.
During the visit, the chief minister lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for accomplishing his project to establish the country’s only national sports university in Manipur.
Khemchand was accorded a reception by Vice-Chancellor of NSU Daljit Singh Chaudhary and NSU officials.

A meeting was later conducted at the academic building, where Assistant General Manager of National Building Construction Corporation Limited (NBCC) Anirban Roy briefed the chief minister on the status of the construction works being undertaken at the university.
Khemchand was informed that the new campus will house 60 faculty residential units. The campus will also have a multi-purpose sports hall spread across the ground and first floors.
Addressing grievances raised by university officials, he informed that construction of the approach road will commence next week.
He further stated that around six borewells will be dug to mitigate water shortage as a temporary measure. The chief minister also assured deployment of adequate security personnel, if necessary, to ensure smooth execution of the works.
Speaking to media persons, Khemchand informed that the total student intake capacity of the campus will be around 1,300 and the project is targeted for completion by the end of this year.
The meeting was attended by MLAs Heikham Dingo Singh and Tongbram Robindro Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh, and other senior officials.
While returning from the NSU, the chief minister stopped at the Koutruk Community Hall, where he was felicitated by villagers. Interacting with the villagers, Khemchand assured them that their grievances would be looked into.
