IMPHAL — Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, along with his ministerial team, invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the state.
The invitation was extended by the chief minister and his two deputy chief ministers, Nemcha Kipgen of the BJP and Losii Dikho of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), when they called on the prime minister at his office in Seva Teerth in New Delhi on Tuesday.
“This is the first time Shri Khemchand met the Prime Minister after he took over as the state’s chief minister on February 4 last,” stated the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in a press release.

“The chief minister briefed PM Modi on the steps taken up by the new state government to bring peace and harmony in the state.”
Khemchand also urged the Prime Minister to take special care on women empowerment in both hills and valley, it added.
Later, sharing photographs of the meeting on Facebook, Khemchand wrote, “Had the honour and privilege to meet Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji today at the Prime Minister’s Office, accompanied by Hon’ble Deputy Chief Ministers Smt. Nemcha Kipgen and Shri L. Dikho. The meeting marks an important milestone in our continued efforts to accelerate the growth and holistic development of Manipur.”
“I had the opportunity to brief the Hon’ble Prime Minister on the sustained measures undertaken by the State Government to restore peace, stability, and communal harmony across Manipur. We reaffirmed our unwavering commitment to ensuring inclusive governance and long-term reconciliation.”
“I also respectfully urged for enhanced focus on women empowerment and #NariShakti strengthening opportunities for women both in the valley and the hill districts, so that development reaches every household and every community," he added.
