Yumnam Khemchand Singh attends Bharatiya Janata Party 47th foundation day in Noney district event

IMPHAL — Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh attended the 47th foundation day of the BJP in Noney district on Monday.
The chief minister attended the function at Longmai Part-3 multipurpose hall, Noney district headquarters, 70 km west of Imphal, while returning to Imphal from his three-day trip to Jiribam district bordering Assam.
Khemchand was accorded a warm welcome by local Nungba BJP MLA Dipu Gangmei and Rongmei Naga traditional dancers.
He, along with state BJP president A Sharda Devi, hoisted the BJP flag at Longmai common ground in Noney town amidst singing of Vande Mataram.
Accompanied by eight BJP MLAs, the chief minister and the state BJP president paid floral tributes to the portraits of two ideological founders of BJP, Deendayal Upadhyaya and Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee.
Speaking at the foundation day function, Khemchand said that the BJP is a party which loves Northeast.

He recalled how former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee established the DONER ministry for the development of the North-Eastern region.
He also said that it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who declared in Parliament that Manipur’s territorial integrity will always be preserved.
He further credited Modi for making the Centre’s Look East Policy to the Act East Policy with an aim to open trans-Asian highways to South East Asian countries.
The chief minister thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah for assuring all help in the development of the state.
Upon his arrival in Imphal from Jiribam, he was welcomed by the womenfolk at Nupi Keithel 1 (Women’s Market-1) and offered prayer to the idol of Leimarel Sidabi and took blessings from the Goddess.
