IMPHAL — Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has assured that he will personally look into the investigation relating to the attack on a local vernacular daily editor in Imphal.
The assurance was given to a delegation of the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) and the Editors’ Guild of Manipur (EGM) when the scribes submitted a memorandum seeking justice for Khoirom Loyalakpa, editor of Naharolgi Thoudang.
“The repeated targeting of journalists weakens public confidence and fosters an environment of fear and self-censorship,” the memorandum stated.

According to reports, unknown armed assailants fired at and allegedly assaulted Loyalakpa while he was travelling in his car near Hatta War Cemetery, under Porompat Police Station, around 10 pm on Wednesday.
A complaint has been lodged and an investigation has been initiated, officials said.
