Dimapur Police arrested a man for allegedly molesting a woman in New Market, with the accused taken into custody for further investigation.

DIMAPUR — Dimapur Police have arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly molesting a 20-year-old woman in the New Market area on the evening of April 6.
The accused, identified as Tabresh Alam, was apprehended following the incident, which occurred at around 8 pm near the Dhobinala police point.
According to reports, the woman was returning home with her brothers after visiting a hair cutting salon when the accused allegedly groped her, including her private parts, despite resistance.
The matter was immediately reported to the New Market Business Welfare Committee (NMBWC), whose members apprehended the accused and brought him to their office.

NMBWC officials alleged that the accused was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. They also informed that he hails from Bihar and works as a tailor in a shop near the Holy Cross police point.
The victim’s family members were present during the initial intervention and were later directed to file a First Information Report at the police station.
Police said the accused was subsequently taken into custody by women police personnel and shifted to West Police Station for further investigation and necessary legal procedures.
