MOKOKCHUNG — Independent candidate Imchatoba Imchen has rejected claims circulating on social media that he has withdrawn from the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency by-election, describing them as “misleading and malicious.”
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Imchen clarified that there is no truth to reports suggesting he had pulled out of the race or entered into any “merger” or understanding with BJP candidate Daochier I Imchen.
“We would like to state clearly that there is no official confirmation of any such arrangement, and such claims are misleading and unnecessary at this stage,” a press note issued on his behalf stated.
He added that his position in the constituency continues to strengthen “day by day.”
The clarification comes amid persistent online rumours regarding his candidature ahead of the by-election.
