Maharashtra defeats Uttar Pradesh 4-1 to win the Dr. Talimeren Ao Junior Girls National Football Championship 2025-26 in Chümoukedima.

DIMAPUR — Maharashtra lifted the Dr. T Ao Junior Girls National Football Championship 2025-2026 (Tier II) with a 4-1 win over Uttar Pradesh at the Chümoukedima Football Stadium, Police Complex, on Thursday.
Uttar Pradesh finished the match with ten shots on target, yet Maharashtra struck first when Captain Aysha Sartape slotted home the opening goal in the 15th minute. Uttar Pradesh responded swiftly, equalising through their forward Divya in the 25th minute.
In the second half, Maharashtra held 54% of possession. Their breakthrough arrived in the 56th minute when midfielder Aarna finished an attack, restoring Maharashtra’s lead. Uttar Pradesh kept pressing forward but were caught offside six times.
Sharvari scored the third goal in the 83rd minute, and forward Ipshita struck in the 87th minute, sealing the 4-1 victory.
Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports, S Keoshu Yimchunger, attended the closing ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, he reminded the players that the tournament was more than a football showcase—it celebrated commitment, resilience, and the rising potential of young girls nationwide.
"Every match on that field echoed with passion and perseverance. Your hard‑fought battles, strategic passes, powerful shots and unshakeable teamwork have truly inspired us all," he acknowledged.
The advisor commended their passion, determination and integrity. He encouraged them, saying, “Your journey does not end here. it’s only the beginning. Keep dreaming big, push harder, and strive for excellence.”
Keoshu praised the teams for their discipline and dedication. “Your collective support has created a platform where young talent can grow, learn and shine,” he added.
“As we bring this championship to a close, let us remember that sports unite us beyond boundaries,” he urged.
The championship, hosted by Nagaland for the first time, featured 13 teams.
Shivika Shetty of Maharashtra received the Golden Glove, while Sharvari Ajit Mane of Maharashtra was awarded the Golden Ball. Joya of Punjab won the Golden Boot with 10 goals.
