WOKHA — The Lotha Youth Hoho (LYH) has intensified its drive against illegal drug activities in Wokha through inspections and surprise checks across the district.
The Tsumang Youth Organisation apprehended an individual identified as Chenithung on May 28 following information regarding his alleged involvement in drug peddling. A meeting in this regard was later held at the LYH office on May 29.
The LYH stated that Chenithung was allegedly involved in smuggling drugs from Merapani, Assam, for sale in Wokha district.
In line with the organisation’s resolution to combat drug abuse, the youth hoho directed him to leave Wokha district by June 3 and barred him from entering the district for a period of five years.

Meanwhile, two drug users apprehended during the operation were advised to undergo rehabilitation at the earliest.
Reiterating its stand against drug abuse and trafficking, LYH warned drug peddlers to cease their activities and surrender before being apprehended, cautioning that offenders would face strict action.
The organisation also appreciated the proactive role played by the Tsumang Colony Youth Organisation and encouraged other colony youth organisations in Wokha Town to undertake similar initiatives in the fight against drugs.
The LYH further assured its support to all community organisations working towards making Wokha a drug-free district.
