Lotha Youth Hoho organised a cleanliness drive at Wokha Public Ground ahead of its September 19 penalty shootout tournament.
WOKHA — The Lotha Youth Hoho (LYH) organised a cleanliness drive at the Public Ground, Wokha, on Friday as part of its initiative to promote a cleaner environment and encourage responsible waste management in public spaces.
The drive witnessed participation from various organisations and individuals, including the Naga People's Front (NPF) Youth Wing, Wokha division; Team MLA 38 A/C YM Humtsoe; Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wokha unit; Lotha Students' Union (LSU); youths from Niropen colony and Wokha village; Natural Nagas; Tiyi Riders Wokha; Nepali Baptist Church Wokha; Wokha Town Council (WTC); police; and other well-wishers.
Speaking to media persons on the occasion, LYH president Mharomo V Murry appreciated the enthusiastic turnout and informed that the social work programme was organised as part of activities leading up to the LYH penalty shootout tournament scheduled for September 19.
Expressing concern over public negligence in maintaining cleanliness, Murry stated that public spaces were increasingly being turned into dumping areas due to irresponsible waste disposal practices.
He appealed to citizens to keep public places, government buildings and offices clean, adding that a clean environment promotes both public health and a positive civic outlook.
He also invited the public to attend the penalty shootout tournament at the Public Ground from 9 am. onwards.

The event is being organised under the theme, "Shoot Goals, Not Drugs," reflecting the organisation's commitment to raising awareness against drug abuse in the district.
The LYH president further extended gratitude to all those who contributed physically and financially towards the successful conduct of the cleanliness drive.
Earlier, LYH vice-president Benri Tsopoe led the programme and launched the cleanliness drive.
