Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav reviewed Kohima Smart City projects, ICCC operations and the future institutional arrangement of KSCDL after the mission concluded in March 2026.
DIMAPUR — Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Friday reviewed the progress of projects implemented under the Kohima Smart City Mission during a meeting with officials of the Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL) at Lok Bhavan, Kohima.
According to a press release from PRO Lok Bhavan, officials made a detailed presentation on the achievements, present status and future institutional arrangement of KSCDL following the conclusion of the Smart Cities Mission on March 31, 2026.
The officials informed the governor that 34 projects sanctioned under the mission had been completed, along with six additional projects, taking the total number of completed projects to 40.
Major urban infrastructure developed through KSCDL includes the Kohima City Centre, hotel building, commercial complex, multi-level car parking facilities, Mini Sports Complex, Kohima Local Ground, Capital Cultural Hall, community halls, accessible footpaths and other public amenities.
The projects cover urban amenities, mobility, smart services, public spaces and city-centre infrastructure.
The meeting also reviewed the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), which has been completed and commissioned.
The ICCC currently supports 24×7 CCTV surveillance, traffic management, automatic number plate recognition (ANPR)-based vehicle monitoring, public safety and security, police coordination and investigation-related surveillance.
CCTV surveillance is available at 80 locations across Kohima. The presentation stated that ICCC surveillance data assisted investigations in 76.47% of cases during the period from November 2025 to September 2026.
Kohima was selected under the Smart Cities Mission on September 20, 2016, following which KSCDL was established as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) in March 2017.
Yadav was also briefed on the future institutional arrangement of KSCDL after the conclusion of the Smart Cities Mission. Several revenue-generating urban assets created under the mission are currently operational, with the revenue intended to support additional public amenities and services.
The continuation and future role of KSCDL as an SPV beyond the mission period remain under consideration by the state government, the release stated.
