WOKHA — The Lotha Hoho on Friday felicitated Lumchibeni T Kikon of Perennial School, Wokha, for securing full marks (100) in Lotha subject (MIL) in the HSLC examination conducted by the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) 2026.
In a brief felicitation programme, Mhondamo Ovung, chairman of Lotha Hoho, lauded her achievement, stating that such accomplishments bring laurels to the community and must be encouraged to promote the Lotha language and tradition.
He reminded that identity is not defined merely by wearing traditional attire but by speaking and writing one’s mother tongue.
Ovung also highlighted that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasises regional and mother tongues in academics, urging the community to use the Lotha language extensively in major events and programmes.
He further congratulated all HSLC and HSSLC toppers from the Lotha community for their excellent performance.

Thungbeni Ngullie, president of Lotha Eloe Hoho; Mharomo Murry, president of Lotha Youth Hoho; and Zubenthung Ngullie, president of Lotha Students’ Union, also appreciated Lumchibeni’s achievement, noting that she had received the Governor’s Award for securing 100 marks in Lotha subject. They wished her success in her academic journey and expressed hope that she would become an icon in promoting the language, inspiring others who struggle to speak and write in their mother tongue.
Sharing her experience, Lumchibeni emphasised the importance of preserving the Lotha language.
She remarked that a community unable to speak or write its mother tongue cannot truly claim its identity, adding that tradition and identity begin with one’s language.
The event was attended by family members, well-wishers, and representatives from the Lotha Youth Hoho, Lotha Students’ Union, Lotha Hoho, Lotha Eloe Hoho and GBs Union.
Samuel Ovung, associate pastor of Wokha Town Baptist Church, offered a prayer for the achiever, while the programme was chaired by Yihamo Patton, cultural secretary of Lotha Hoho.
