- DIMAPUR — The
third Longleng District Inter-Departmental Tournament commenced on Wednesday at
the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Longleng, with executive secretary of PBCA, N
Tialemba Phom, as the special guest.
- According to a DIPR report, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman
of the District Sports Council Longleng, W Manpai Phom, delivered the welcome
address, and an invocation prayer was led by Pastor of LTBC, Rev. H Beau Phom.
- In his address, Tialemba said that games and sports play a
vital role across the country, bringing people together and exploring inner
qualities and abilities. He further stated his hope that the Inter-Departmental
Tournament of Longleng District would foster unity and a harmonious bond
between the departments as well.

- Citing an example, he highlighted how sports and games have
played a pivotal role, especially in bringing Naga political groups together,
despite their political and ideological differences. He was optimistic that
this event would reflect unity and foster relationships between the
departments, allowing them to get to know one another, create loving
connections, and nurture growth.
- The oath-taking ceremony was led by District Sports Officer Kenongoto
Thokhwe, while Phom Lempong Higher Secondary School performed a special song.
- The two-day event will feature sports disciplines such as
badminton, tug of war, carrom, air rifle shooting, table tennis, and football
penalty shootout. The tournament commenced with a declaration by the special
guest.
