Longleng District Planning and Development Board discusses Pongo village road construction and celebrates Advent Christmas at Yungmon riverbanks.

DIMAPUR — The Longleng District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting-cum-Advent Christmas celebration was held under the chairmanship of A Pongshi Phom, MLA and chairman of DPDB Longleng, at the Yungmon riverbanks (Yongnyah) on December 12.
According to a DIPR report, the meeting commenced with the introduction of new members.
After reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, the agenda taken up for discussion was the construction of an approach road near the 132 kV sub-station at Pongo village, forwarded by the MLA of 50 AC.
On the matter, the deputy commissioner informed the house that, in consultation with the Power department, a detailed DPR had been submitted, and the house agreed to forward the matter to the higher authority.

The Advent Christmas programme began with an invocation pronounced by Pastor Pongkap of Yongnyah Town Baptist Church, followed by the hymn “Joy to the World”.
In his welcome address, W Manpai Phom, deputy commissioner and vice chairman of DPDB Longleng, acknowledged the council members of Yongnyah village for their support.
He mentioned that the district is blessed with the leadership of two elected members and appealed to officers to further strengthen cooperation for the upliftment and progress of the district.
A Pongshi Phom, in his Christmas greetings, conveyed Advent Christmas wishes to everyone present on behalf of his family and the Government of Nagaland. He said that the meeting was a time to reflect on the guidance, wisdom, and the many blessings that God has bestowed upon everyone over the past eleven months.
He thanked all district heads of departments, office staff led by the deputy commissioner, the superintendent of police, civil society organisations, and the general public for their cooperation.
He further informed the gathering that Orangkong Baptist Church will be celebrating its platinum jubilee from December 26 to the 28th and requested all members to uphold the programme in prayer.
Lankonsen Tsanglao, ADC Tamlu, in his greetings, said that Christ came into the world not to adjust to it, but to make amends to its current state by challenging what is wrong. He added that Christ questioned injustice, and likewise, individuals and society should question the government when it does not function as it should. He observed that only a few people have the courage to question and challenge the system.
The Christmas message was shared by the pastor of Tamlu Town Baptist Church, and a special song was presented by representatives from District Hospital Longleng. Earlier, the programme was chaired by Maongsangla, district agricultural officer.
