- DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Pradesh Congress
Committee (NPCC) on Thursday stated that the committed efforts of the
Nagaland’s lone Lok Sabha MP, S Supongmeren Jamir, have received a positive
response from the Union Minister of State of Micro, Small and Medium
Enterprises, and Labour and Employment, Government of India, Shobha Karandlaje.
- A press release from NPCC communication department mentioned
that Jamir had earlier on February 11, 2025, during Zero Hour discussion in the
Lok Sabha, urged the Central government to establish full-fledged office spaces
and to depute adequate officers at the MSME-Development and Facilitation
Offices (DFO) in the North Eastern Region (NER) including Nagaland.
- It stated that the ministry has acknowledged the concern and
assured to deploy 11 deputy directors recently promoted to joint director
level. It added that recruitments for assistant director Grade-I and Grade-II
are under process through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) with new
officers expected to join by June 2025.

- The ministry further stated that it was considering
strengthening the MSME DFO in the northeast by deploying those promoted and
newly recruited officers to enhance the region's MSME ecosystem.
- Meanwhile, the NPCC has expressed gratitude to S Supongmeren
Jamir for his consistent interventions in bringing the pressing developmental
needs of the northeast to the national forum and considered it as a clear proof
of how the Congress party continues to advocate for equitable development in
the region.
- It also acknowledged the prompt intervention extended by the
ministry on the matter and further urged to implement the same in a time-bound
manner so that the long-neglected MSME infrastructure in Nagaland and the
northeast received the attention and support it truly deserves.
