Department of Art and Culture holds Living Morung programme at Shamator Village, highlighting traditional farming and culture.

DIMAPUR — The Department of Art & Culture, organised a programme on the theme “Living Morung and traditional knowledge” and workshop on “Traditional methods of farming and training” on February 20 at Shamator Village Council Hall. L Thongsangkiu, VCC, Shamator Village, the special guest of the event, highlighted the importance of preserving ancestral culture, food habits and agricultural practices.
Cultural dances and folk songs were presented by the Women Cultural Society and Shamator Village Cultural Society.
Resource persons A Tsupannthong and S Yanrukiu, assisted by L Levenkiu, S Tothong, and L Asula, led demonstrations and training.

The storytelling of the mystical tree of Shamator Village was narrated by K Wongtsu, GB.
Morung narration was delivered by Khupan, while topic on festivals and its significance was highlighted by Kiutangmong.
During the sharing of experiences, Khiungjumong, VCM, and BK Mongtsu, a student leader, expressed gratitude to the department for its grassroots initiative.
Participants from neighbouring villages and Shamator district headquarters attended the programme.
Earlier, the programme was led by Kiumukam, assistant curator, with an invocation prayer by Samuel, pastor of Shamator Village Baptist Church.
