DIMAPUR — The Lions Club of Dimapur Elite and the Lions Club of Dimapur (LCD) observed ‘Hunger Free Week’ from January 3 to the 11th under the ‘Hunger Free India’ initiative, conducting various service activities across the district.
The Lions Club of Dimapur Elite organised a dry ration kit distribution at the bustees of Half Nagarjan, Kuda Village. Each kit comprised rice, dal and soya bari. According to the club, more than 1,000 beneficiaries were reached through these activities.
To add joy to the celebrations of Makar Sankranti, kites, juices and chips were distributed to children. Clothes and woollen clothes were also distributed to people of all age groups.
In addition to human service, the club observed ‘Hunger Week for Voiceless Beings’. Members provided grains, seeds and rice for birds in open spaces, placed clean drinking water in bowls, and offered food to stray dogs, cows and other animals.
The programmes were organised under the leadership of president Meena Sethi, with support from secretary Prernaa Maheswarri and treasurer Sakchi Jain.

Meanwhile, under the leadership of president Sanjay Jaiswal, the Lions Club of Dimapur also undertook the campaign with a series of activities.
The week was launched on January 3 by providing dinner to the needy outside the Gurudwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha in Dimpaur, with support from the gurudwara management.
On January 4, fifty dry ration kits were distributed to beneficiaries in and around Dimapur. From January 5 to the 9th, dinner was served to the needy outside the Dimapur Railway Station and the gurudwara.
An awareness campaign on “Food Waste to Food Plate” was conducted on January 7, emphasising responsible food usage. On January 10, as part of the ‘Hospital and Patient Care Initiative’, the club distributed fruit packets to patients and nursing staff at District Hospital Dimapur.
The campaign concluded on January 11 with food distribution for roadside animals. The activities were conducted under the chairmanship of Amit Jain and Rahul Jain.
