Leaders condole the demise of former Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker E Thungchamo Ezung in Dimapur.
DIMAPUR — Leaders and organisations across Nagaland have expressed grief over the demise of former Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and former Minister, E Thungchamo Ezung, who passed away in Dimapur on Thursday. He was 76.
In a message, Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton stated that his passing marks the end of a notable chapter in the state's political history, recognising him as a prominent figure from Wokha district who worked consistently for the welfare of the Lotha community and Naga society at large.
NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer remarked that Ezung devoted a significant part of his life to public service. His active association with student and youth organisations, community institutions, and other public forums reflected his deep commitment to society and enduring concern for the welfare of the people, Longkumer noted.
Lok Sabha Member of Parliament and NPCC President S Supongmeren Jamir described Ezung as a veteran politician who served in different capacities and remained at the forefront of party affairs.

The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee, where Ezung served as a Core Committee member and previously as Working President from 2018 to 2020, remembered his dedicated service.
The Wokha District Congress Committee noted that his demise was a great loss to the political fraternity in Nagaland, particularly Wokha district.
Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) National Secretary S Richard Humtsoe stated that the people of Nagaland have lost a distinguished public servant closely associated with the evolution of the state's democratic institutions.
The Ex-Parliamentarians Association of Nagaland remembered him as a dedicated executive member representing Wokha, noting that his contributions towards the growth of the state and the organisation would always be treasured.
The Lotha Lower Range Public Organisation stated that Ezung carried forward a legacy of leadership, noting his significant contributions to the welfare and development of the Lotha people and the Lotha lower range.
