Nagaland University’s Lumami Campus Sports Club began its 12th annual sports meet, promoting unity through diverse sporting events.

DIMAPUR — Nagaland University’s Lumami Campus Sports Club (LCSC) inaugurated its 12th annual sports meet at the Multi-Purpose Hall on Saturday.
According to a press release, the tournament began with a brief inaugural programme attended by university employees and campus residents.
Chief guest Dr. Albert Khizo, finance officer of Nagaland University, expressed deep appreciation for the club’s purpose, its dedicated members, and its longstanding contributions to the campus community.
Dr. Khizo highlighted that this club is unique, as it brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds and departments, thereby creating a sense of unity within the university.
He noted that even within the same campus, many people remain unfamiliar with one another, and such sports events serve as an important platform for bringing the community together. He further expressed gratitude to the Sports section for providing essential sports equipment and extending its support.

He also encouraged all participants to take part wholeheartedly and urged them to enjoy the competitions while strengthening unity through sports.
LCSC President Peter Ki, PRO of Nagaland University, in his welcome address, reflected on the club’s journey since its inception on September 18, 2012. He thanked the founding members for their vision of sports, with the idea of creating a lively and engaging campus environment where staff, faculty, and the wider campus community could come together through sports.
The first day of the tournament witnessed matches including men’s and women’s volleyball, football, and a penalty shoot-out. The sports meet will continue till November 22.
