Heavy rain and landslides damage Mon's 66kV transmission line, disrupting power as restoration efforts continue despite difficult conditions.
DIMAPUR — Power supply across Mon district has been disrupted after heavy rainfall triggered multiple faults on the 66kV Naginimora–Tizit transmission line, with the Power department working to restore electricity despite severe weather and damaged road connectivity.
According to the executive engineer at Transmission Division, Mokokchung, an earth fault developed on the transmission line near Tiru village at around 4.30 am on July 19 following incessant rain.
The department stated that restoration work could not begin immediately because flooding, landslides and damaged roads prevented access to the affected area. After extensive line patrolling and with assistance from local residents, officials were able to identify the fault location.

However, restoration efforts suffered another setback when a massive landslide caused the transmission conductor to snap between tower locations 7 and 8 near Naginimora town at around 1 pm on July 20.
The department added that it is assessing the extent of the damage and making every effort to restore power supply at the earliest.
Meanwhile, consumers under the Tizit and Mon power sections have been requested to bear with the inconvenience while repair and restoration work is expedited.
