All vehicular movement on Kohima-Jessami road has been suspended under Mesulumi village due to a major landslide.
DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Phek, Rhosietho Nguori, has suspended all vehicular movement along a stretch of the Kohima-Jessami road (NH-29) under Mesulumi village following a major landslide and mudslide.
According to a traffic advisory, the slide occurred at chainage 78+000 and 79+836 under Package IV of NH-29. The suspension of movement has been enforced for road clearance operations and in the interest of public safety.
During the period of restriction, commuters have been advised to use alternative routes.
For heavy motor vehicles and light motor vehicles, the alternative route is the Pfutsero town-Porba-Sakraba-Middle Khomi-Phek village-Lanezho road and vice versa.
For light motor vehicles only, the alternative route is the Pfutsero town-Tsupfume-Thetsumi-Chizami road and vice versa.
The construction company, Keystone Infra Private Limited, has been directed to ensure that all road clearance works are completed at the earliest.
The advisory will remain in force until further notice, the deputy commissioner added.
