KVK Zunheboto inaugurates residential training programme on natural farming for community resource persons.

DIMAPUR — Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Zunheboto, Nagaland University, inaugurated a five-day residential training programme on natural farming for community resource persons (CRPs)/krishi sakhis under the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF), on December 10.
The programme, sponsored by SAMETI, Department of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland, is being held at the KVK Zunheboto conference hall, an update stated.
The chief guest, ADC Akuluto, Tiayanger Jamir, urged farmers to adopt traditional natural farming practices, emphasising the importance of producing healthy, chemical-free food. He encouraged farmers to produce and market local products with branding and labelling, establish village seed banks, seek financial support, explore GI tagging for unique products, strengthen SHGs for growth, and leverage social media for marketing.
Jamir concluded his speech by motivating the CRPs and farmers to become brand ambassadors of natural farming in Zunheboto district.

Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia, KVK Zunheboto's Principal Scientist and Head, introduced the programme, highlighting natural farming's importance.
He noted that initiatives like this, supported by SAMETI and the Government of India, promote sustainable, chemical-free agriculture. Dr. Chaurasia encouraged trainees to adopt natural farming principles for soil health and farm profitability.
The programme saw active participation from trainees and stakeholders. Dr. Visakho Shunyu, CTO (Agriculture/G&PB), proposed the vote of thanks.
The five-day training will include technical sessions, hands-on demonstrations, field exposure, and expert interactions designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to promote natural farming across villages in Zunheboto district.
Earlier, the inaugural session began with a welcome address by Yangermongla I Pongen.
