ICAR- KVK Wokha holds its Scientific Advisory Committee meeting for 2026.

WOKHA — The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Wokha, under the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, held its Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting for 2026 on January 15 at the KVK conference hall.
The meeting was convened to formulate the Scientific Action Plan for 2026 and to review the achievements of 2025.
During the technical session, Dr. Moaakum Pongen, CTO (Animal Science), presented the annual progress report for 2025, highlighting the activities and achievements of the KVK.

This was followed by a presentation on the annual action plan for 2026 by Dr. N Khumdemo Ezung, CTO (Agronomy). The plan outlined proposed on-farm trials focusing on integrated farming system (IFS) models, gender integration in markets, blending of pseudo-stem juice with passion fruit, sugarcane jaggery-based value addition, improving nutritional status of farm women, improved crop varieties, maize-based cropping systems, soybean performance, and nutrition-sensitive agriculture.
The initiatives aim to enhance farm productivity, nutritional security, and farmers’ income in the district.
Frontline demonstrations were also proposed on improved and climate-resilient nutri-smart varieties, breeds, and flagship technologies for rural entrepreneurship development.
Farmers from self-help groups (SHGs), farmer producer organisations (FPOs), and Yuthi Delight shared their grievances, views, and suggestions, including crop choices and ways to strengthen collaboration.
Yuthi Delight highlighted the need for technical support to improve production and value addition. ICAR-KVK assured continued technical guidance and support to farmers, SHGs, FPOs, and agri-enterprise groups. Officials from the state government, scientists from ICAR Nagaland Centre, and heads of various KVKs also offered inputs to strengthen future programmes.
Earlier, the programme began with a welcome address and release of publications by Dr. Sandeep Deshmukh, member secretary of SAC and head of ICAR-KVK Wokha.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. H. Kalita, chairman of SAC and head of Regional Centre, ICAR–Nagaland Centre, who guided the deliberations and discussions on proposed activities and future interventions.
The meeting concluded with remarks by Dr. Prasantha Kumar Pathak, senior scientist and representative of the Director, ICAR-ATARI, followed by closing remarks from the chairman, Dr. H Kalita.
Dr. Kalita expressed satisfaction with the performance and visibility of KVK Wokha among stakeholders. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Moaakum Pongen, CTO (Animal Science).
