Officials from ICAR–NRC on Mithun meet Union MoS for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Bhagirath Choudhary.

DIMAPUR — Director of ICAR–National Research Centre (NRC) on Mithun, Dr. Girish Patil S, along with Dr. Phool Kumari, head of KVK–Dimapur, and Dr. Harender Verma, scientist at ICAR Nagaland Centre, met Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Bhagirath Choudhary, in Dimapur.
During the meeting, the ICAR team highlighted the various initiatives and activities undertaken by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to promote agriculture and animal husbandry in the North Eastern Region of India, an update stated.
Key interventions aimed at enhancing farmers’ livelihoods, improving livestock productivity, and strengthening extension services were discussed.

The minister held detailed discussions on the challenges faced by farmers in Nagaland and emphasised the immense potential of natural farming practices in the state.
Choudhary appreciated the efforts of ICAR institutions in the region and stressed the need for continued scientific support and farmer-centric approaches to ensure sustainable agricultural development.
