Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dimapur, promotes balanced used of fertilizers

DIMAPUR — Under the intensive campaign on balanced use of fertilizers initiative of the Government of India (GOI), Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dimapur, has organised a one-day awareness-cum-training programme on natural farming principles and certification in Vidima village on Friday.
The programme was aimed at promoting the use of bio-fertilizers, bio-agents and natural farming for sustainable and eco-friendly agriculture.
An update from KVK Dimapur stated that the training was conducted by Marneni Divya Sree, SMS (Agricultural Extension); Dr. Moanaro, programme assistant; and Dr. Phool Kumari, senior scientist and head of KVK Dimapur.
During the programme, experts emphasised reducing chemical inputs and encouraged the adoption of bio-fertilizers and natural farming to improve soil health and crop productivity.

Dr. Phool Kumari has highlighted various activities of KVK Dimapur and made awareness among farmers about the health benefits of natural farming practices. She stressed that chemical-free farming not only strengthens soil health but also ensures safe and nutritious food for better human health.
During the interaction, the farmers shared that they are not using chemical fertilizers in their fields, reflecting their strong commitment towards natural and sustainable farming practices.
It mentioned that the programme would continue throughout the Kharif season as part of a focused campaign. It added that KVK Dimapur would implement the campaign in collaboration with Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) to address the ongoing challenges related to soil health, promoting environmentally safe farming practices.
It further stated that bio-fertilizers and vegetable seed were also distributed among the participating farmers to support immediate adoption. It added that the programme received an encouraging response from farmers, marking a significant step towards sustainable agriculture in the region.
