Kuda Village Council takes strong stance against illegal immigrants’ issue

DIMAPUR — The Kuda Village Council (KVC), Dimapur, convened a special village council members (VCM) meeting on July 30, which extensively deliberated on the pressing issue of illegal immigrants and its potential long-term impact on Naga society.


After threadbare discussion, the Kuda Village Council unanimously resolved to support the public and government's efforts to fight and eradicate the menace of illegal influx of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants (IBIs) into the state, the council stated in a press release.


The meeting also decided to form a local village census board under the aegis of the KVC to conduct comprehensive internal census within its jurisdiction to maintain up-to-date records of its citizens. The internal census will be undertaken and spearheaded the by Kuda Youth Club and presidents and members of all youth khels.


The census board will comprise advisors who will provide guidance and support to ensure a smooth internal census process.

Naga organisations wary of illegal immigrant influx


The team of advisors include L Kire, Commissioner & Secretary (Retd.); K Nakhro, advocate and NPSC member (Retd.); Zhasa Vüprü, senior advocate; V Peseyie, NPS; and Seyiesezo Peseyie, NPS.


Other members of the team of advisors (ex-officio) are Savi Liegise, advisor of KVC; Thepfuko Nagi, head GB and GBs of all khels (A, B & C); and chairmen of Kuda village A, B and C khels, respectively.


The house also resolved that all new arrivals/tenants in the village jurisdiction since July 23, 2025, shall require verification certificate from respective khel chairmen.


Residents have also been urged to report new movements to KVC officials or khel chairmen.


“All citizens of Kuda village jurisdiction are requested to cooperate with the Village Census Board members in the interest of all concerned. Any person/s found harbouring strangers/recent evictees shall be subject to action deemed fit by KVC,” the release added.
