DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) and GB Union Dimapur Sadar (GBUDS) have expressed concern over rising influx of immigrants particularly in the three districts of Dimapur, Niuland and Chümoukedima following the recent evictions drive carried out in Assam.
While appreciating the district authorities for seriously taking up the issue, the two organisations have sought cooperation from the colony councils, GBs and CSOs to assist in surveillance and report on any illegal entry into the state.
It strongly apprised the colony councils within Dimapur Sadar jurisdiction to be on alert in detecting suspicious people trying to enter from the neighbouring state. It also urged the citizens not to harbour or lend out their houses for rent to new people without ascertaining their backgrounds.

In this regard, colony councils are asked to strictly monitor such activities for strict compliance and take punitive measures as per the rules.
It also stated that DUCCF and GBUD Sadar are ready to assist the government and its agencies to effectively implement and enforce the inner line permit (ILP). It clarified that ILP is not a tool to drive out or discriminate genuine citizens.
Additionally, the two organisations have cautioned the indigenous people to undertake proper verifications of the person and documents before agreeing to be guarantor. At the same time, it pointed out that limiting the application process only to online system would significantly hinder effective implementation.
To ensure public convenience and success of the implementation, the two organisation urged the implementing agency to provide an offline application system alongside online.
