DIMAPUR — The result of the election to Ward 11 (Zhipa) under Pfutsero Town Council, held on October 28, was declared on Friday.


Between the two Independent candidates, Krokulo Khutso secured 315 votes, constituting 54.40% of the total valid votes, while Tewu Mero polled 264 votes, constituting 45.59%.


According to an update, Khutso won by a margin of 51 votes. Out of a total of 594 votes polled, 579 were valid and 15 were declared invalid.


Out of a voter turnout of 87.09% (594), male participation stood at 48.48% (288) and female participation at 51.51% (306), with female voters outnumbering male voters. In terms of age distribution, 21.11% (144) of voters were in the 18–25 age group, 35.7% (244) in the 26–40 group, 24% (163) in the 41–60 group, 5.8% (40) in the 61–80 group, and 0.4% (3) of voters were above 80 years of age.

The State Election Commission (SEC), Nagaland, congratulated all officials involved in the election process for their dedicated efforts and acknowledged the cooperation received from the electors, civil society organisations, and the state government for the smooth, peaceful, and successful completion of the election.


SEC Nagaland has further informed that consequent upon the declaration of the results of the bye-election and the completion of the election process, the Model Code of Conduct, which came into operation in the Pfutsero Town Council area from the date of the notification of the election programme, ceases to be in force with effect from midnight on October 31.
