DIMAPUR — The declaration ceremony of the People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) consensus Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the 28 Koridang (ST) Assembly Constituency by-election, Daochier I Imchen, was held at Mangmetong Council Hall on Monday in the presence of senior party leaders, alliance partners, and party karyakartas.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister and BLP leader Yanthungo Patton stated that the party ticket was allotted to Daochier after thorough deliberation and due consultation with the central leadership.
According to a press release, he refuted allegations of dynastic politics, clarifying that the decision was taken in the best interest of the constituency and the party.
He also rebuked claims made during the recently held candidate mass declaration programmes regarding the BJP offering tickets to intending candidates, terming such statements as baseless and misleading. Stressing unity, he called upon BJP and Naga People's Front (NPF) party workers to work together in the true spirit of alliance for the progressive development of the constituency.

Reflecting on the legacy of late Imkong L Imchen, he stated that the late leader dedicated his life to the service of the people of Nagaland.
He added that Daochier I Imchen carries forward this legacy of public service, with a commitment rooted in integrity and a genuine desire to continue the work initiated by his predecessor, focusing on grassroots development and addressing the aspirations of the youth.
He further stated that if elected, Daochier would be part of the ruling government, enabling him to take on responsibilities and contribute directly to decision-making. This, he noted, would ensure stronger representation and greater access to development opportunities for the people of Koridang.
Highlighting the strength of the alliance, he expressed confidence that with the support of the PDA government under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there exists a strong pathway for progress and inclusive growth in the constituency.
He also urged the electorate to remain vigilant, uphold peace and harmony, and remember that while elections are temporary, the bonds within the community endure beyond polling day.
A post by Patton on X further mentioned that meetings were also held on the same day in Yimyu Ward and Khensa Village.
Minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Change C L John also addressed the gathering and dismissed claims that the NPF is supporting any other candidate. He reiterated that Daochier I Imchen is the sole PDA consensus BJP candidate and cautioned the public against being misled by rumours and misinformation.
The programme was attended by Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) S Phangnon Konyak, Advisor Pangjung Jamir, and Advisor Tongpang Ozukum, along with NPF central and Mokokchung division office bearers, Mokokchung district BJP officials, and supporters.
