- DIMAPUR — The
Konyak Union has urged the Nagaland GB Federation Peace Committee (NGBDPC) to
rectify a misrepresentation in its initiative for a unified platform to address
the Indo-Naga political issue.
- In a statement issued on Thursday, the union expressed
sincere appreciation of the committee’s effort for “initiating a unified
platform to address the Indo-Naga political issue, rooted in the Framework
Agreement and Agreed Position, which is scheduled for 14th May 2025 at Agri
Expo, Dimapur.”
- It, however, underscored the need to address concerns
regarding the inclusion of the name 'Konyak Angh Union Nagaland' among the
listed organising bodies.

- The KU asserted the independent and time-honoured nature of
the Angh institution (kingship), highlighting its role as a traditional
authority exercising sovereign powers without affiliation to any union or
organisation.
- The inclusion of 'Konyak Angh Union Nagaland' has caused
confusion and concern among the public and various organisations,” it stated.
- To address these concerns, the union convened a coordination
meeting with all the Anghs (hereditary chiefs) of various villages on May 7 at
the KU conference hall in Mon. Following thorough deliberation, it was
unanimously confirmed that no organisation exists under the title 'Konyak Angh
Union Nagaland.'
- “Therefore, the Konyak Union urges the concerned
organisation to rectify this misrepresentation to prevent any further
misunderstanding or confusion,” it stated.
