Kohima youth join National Sports Day celebrations as Don Bosco College felicitates students for achievements in athletics and table tennis

KOHIMA — Students and youth in Kohima joined the nationwide National Sports Day and Khelo India Samwad celebration through a virtual programme at Don Bosco College, Kohima, on Thursday.
The programme was attended by District Youth Officer, MY Bharat Kohima, Pradeep J; State Nodal Officer, National Service Scheme, Ruokuovituo Zatsu; Khelo India Centre (Football) representative Kezevituo Vizo; archer M Linshito Yimchunger; and college administrators, faculty members and NSS volunteers.
Participants witnessed the nationwide Khelo India Samwad proceedings and listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address.
A moderated discussion on sports was held with Vizo and Yimchunger, focusing on sporting opportunities and the role of youth in developing the sporting culture. As part of the programme, students also spoke on youth development, civic responsibility and future-ready skills.

Don Bosco College also felicitated two students for their sporting achievements.
Rüduolhounuo Rachel was recognised for winning silver in the women’s 100-metre event at the Khelo India Tribal Games 2026, while Vichaduonuo Rame received recognition for securing bronze in the women’s doubles category at the Nagaland Open Table Tennis Championship 2025.
The programme also featured discussions on practical skills, digital literacy, entrepreneurship, community participation and expanding access to the My Bharat platform, particularly among young people in rural and tribal areas.
