- DIMAPUR — In response to recent reports of
unidentified individuals allegedly attempting to lure children, the Kohima
Village Students’ Union (KVSU) has issued a public safety advisory urging
parents, schools, and community members to take precautionary measures.
- The union, in a statement issued on Tuesday, called for
increased vigilance and immediate steps to safeguard children in and around
school premises and public spaces. It emphasised the need for coordinated
efforts across families, educational institutions, and local communities to
ensure child safety.
- KVSU has directed school authorities to issue internal
notices instructing that no student should be allowed to leave the premises
with anyone not officially authorised. It also urged schools to strengthen
supervision during arrival, recess, and dispersal times to ensure that children
remain within safe and monitored areas.

- The union has called on parents and guardians to counsel
children about the risks of engaging with strangers, regardless of how friendly
they may seem. It further advised that children should never leave with anyone
without parental consent and must not be left unattended at home, school, or in
public settings.
- Urging collective responsibility, KVSU appealed to community
members to remain alert around schools, playgrounds, and other spaces
frequented by children. It also urged community members to immediately report
any suspicious activity or individuals to local law enforcement or village
authorities.
- “These precautionary steps are issued in the interest of
collective responsibility to protect our community,” the union stated.
