KSSU felicitates NPSC qualifiers

Atoshili Zhimomi speaking during the 4th biennial conference-cum-felicitation programme organised by the Kohima Sumi Students' Union at Mount Olive College, Kohima, on Saturday.

  • DIMAPUR — The Kohima Sumi Students' Union (KSSU) held its 4th biennial conference-cum-felicitation programme at the Mount Olive College auditorium, Kohima, on the theme "Empowering youth leadership," with Atoshili Zhimomi, Joint Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, as the special guest on Saturday.

  • According to an update, Zhimomi, while congratulating all the successful Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) and other competitive exam candidates, toppers in academic courses, awardees in sports, and other professions, attributed their success to the support of their church and parents' prayers. She encouraged them to pursue higher dreams.

  • She stressed the need to limit public functions, minimise expenditures, and avoid unnecessary presentations for guest speakers. She suggested that a certificate would suffice for presentations to speakers, promoting economical and low-budget event management.

  • Emphasising the importance of digital media, she urged the student community to use digital media judiciously for the productivity of society and encouraged them to organise media in a refined manner.

  • Highlighting the role of students' unions, she said that their primary focus should be working for the welfare of the student community and encouraged the student union to use the student platform exclusively for student-related affairs.

  • Zhimomi urged the student community to identify their strengths and weaknesses, emphasising self-management and home study for competitive exams. She said that qualifying for a competitive exam such as the NPSC or other exams doesn't necessarily require going abroad or taking coaching classes. Instead, it depends on one's sincerity and dedication.

  • She urged the student community to be ambassadors of peace for the Sumi community, fostering good relations with different Naga communities in the state capital, Kohima, and taking responsibility for building bridges.

  • Jehu Kinimi, president of the Kohima Sumi Students' Union, delivered the presidential address, while Shiwoto Wotsa, president of the Kohima Sumi Hoho, exhorted the gathering.

  • The evening session featured Nitoka V Swu as the guest speaker, while Kitto Swu, President of the Kohima Sumi Officer Union, exhorted the gathering. The programme also included the distribution of certificates to state and national awardees, toppers, NPSC-qualified candidates, and other achievers. Toino Achumi, who placed ninth in the HSLC 2023 exams, gave a keynote speech.

  • During the programme, the Kohima Sumi Students' Union (KSSU) felicitated five NSSB-qualified candidates, 12 NPSC-qualified candidates, five academic course toppers, and one national sports awardee.
