DIMAPUR — The Kohima Riphyim Ekhüng (KRE) marked its 25th anniversary with a thanksgiving celebration at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima, on October 11.


According to an update, the celebration was attended by Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland Y Patton as the special guest, who lauded KRE for its growth and commitment over the past 25 years.


In his address, Patton expressed happiness that the Ekhüng, which began as a small group, has now grown into a vibrant and united community. He commended the pioneers who laid the foundation of the union and contributed to the welfare and development of the Riphyim community in Kohima.


Encouraging the younger generation, he urged students to study diligently, stay focused, and excel in competitive examinations, emphasising that education is the key to success and empowerment.

Patton also called upon members to remain united and extend help to one another in times of need, maintaining the bond of brotherhood that has strengthened the community. He further advised the youth to uphold the good habits and values of their forefathers and work towards bringing pride and honour to the community.


Importantly, the deputy chief minister urged government servants from the community to follow the legacy of honesty and integrity in their official duties, highlighting that sincerity and clean service are the true markers of good leadership and progress.


The guest of honour, M Patton, IAS (retd.), congratulated KRE for its unity, achievements, and contributions to society. He encouraged members not to forget their native village and to stay connected to their roots while excelling in their respective professions.


He further emphasised the importance of upholding the ideals of cooperation and service for which the Ekhüng was founded, stating that unity and mutual support are the true strengths of the community.
